Experience

For over a decade, I have played many roles in science education including professor to college students, mentor to students of many ages, and tutor to middle and high school students. My role in education has been an ideal compliment to my diversified research experience focused largely on the interdisciplinary fields of drug discovery and biotechnology including the development of a vaccine candidate for malaria. I have taken many classes in the sciences that have prepared me to teach in a variety of subjects including chemistry, biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, oceanography, environmental sciences and microbiology. I want to be a tutor to you or your child because I believe in science education and I believe that every person can understand science if presented and explained in a way that connects to their own life. Science is not easy – it is a subject that takes persistence and hard work to obtain the understanding needed to make good grades or master an exam. For some this understanding may simply require a better dedication to studying and for others it may require creative methods of thinking to understand the concepts. No matter where you are in your scientific learning, I am ready to help you succeed.

I enjoy almost all outdoor activities including scuba diving/snorkeling, swimming, hiking and boating. I love to travel and learn about new cultures. I also enjoy being a mom, cooking and reading. My family recently moved to Virginia after living abroad in Germany for two years. While here, I am hoping to be able to help people succeed in science.
